Julia de Burgos (February 17, 1914 – July 6, 1953) is considered by many as the greatest poet born in Puerto Rico, and, along with Gabriela Mistral, one of the greatest female poets of Latin America. As an advocate of Puerto Rican independence, she served as Secretary General of the Daughters of Freedom, the women’s branch of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. She was also an ardent civil rights activist for women and African/Afro-Caribbean writers.

i got this subway map from 1972 for 1$ at some conference like 10 years ago, i often saw it on ebay for a stack of dollars, its hard to think that this piece of paper is 40 years old. Note that at that time it wasnt called a subway map but a subway guide. Chinobyi gave us a 411 about it :

The Massimo Vignelli map. Most hated this design when it first came out in 1972. The rivers are cream colored, parks are beige, it’s not very geographically accurate… but the diagram was simple. The color coding system he created is still used today.
